Construction sites are inherently temporary and incomplete spaces. The repetitive cycle of building, demolishing, and rebuilding toward a predetermined purpose has come to symbolize, for me, more than just a physical process—it reflects the emotional architecture of life and the ongoing transformation of the inner self. Within these sites, I am drawn to the traces of the unconscious, the marks of repression, and the unresolved states of becoming.

I observe the markings commonly found at construction sites—fluorescent spray paint, makeshift tape, exposed rebar, raw materials, and skeletal frameworks—as a kind of pre-linguistic signal system, a sensory order that exists somewhere between control and chaos. My work seeks to reveal how identity, memory, emotion, and personal history are continuously “under construction” within these in-between spaces.

The pieces in this exhibition borrow from, disrupt, and reconfigure the visual language of the construction site. Elements such as markings, structure, barriers, temporality, repetition, and instability are materialized to explore the tension between incompleteness and potential transformation.

To me, the construction site is one of the most strangely familiar landscapes of any city. Within it, I recognize the ongoing state of my own identity—never fully built, always in process. These works are not static structures but ongoing gestures of becoming.

공사 현장은 늘 일시적이며 불완전한 공간입니다. 정해진 목적을 향해 무언가가 세워지고, 부서지고, 다시 세워지는 이 반복적인 과정은 나에게 단순한 물리적 풍경을 넘어, 삶의 감정적 구조와 내면의 변화에 대한 강한 은유로 다가왔습니다. 나는 이러한 장면들 속에서 무의식적인 감정, 억압된 흔적, 아직 완성되지 않은 상태로 존재하는 무언가에 매료되었습니다.나는 공사판에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 표식들—형광색 스프레이, 임시로 붙여진 테이프, 철근, 자재들, 구조물의 뼈대—를 관찰하며 그 안에서 언어 이전의 신호들과 감각적인 질서를 읽어냈습니다. 그것은 계획과 무질서가 동시에 존재하는 풍경이었고, 나의 작업은 그 안에서 정체성과 감정, 기억과 흔적이 어떻게 '세워지고 있는지'를 드러내는 시도입니다.이번 전시의 작업들은 이러한 공사 현장의 시각 언어를 차용하거나 해체하여 새로운 조형 언어로 재구성한 결과물입니다. 표식(marking), 구조, 가림막, 임시성, 반복, 흔들림 같은 개념들이 시각적으로 혹은 물질적으로 구현되며, 우리 존재의 불완전함과 변화 가능성을 탐색합니다.공사판은 한 도시의 가장 낯설고도 익숙한 풍경이며, 나는 그 안에서 나 자신의 정체성, 감정, 경험이 끊임없이 '공사 중'이라는 것을 자각합니다. 이 작업은 완결된 구조물이 아니라, 끝없이 이어지는 과정 그 자체입니다.
