Artist Statement

My practice investigates the unintended visual language that emerges within transitional spaces such as construction sites. Operating within structures organized for function and efficiency, I focus on peripheral elements—temporary tapes, traces made by workers, repetitive gestures, raw surfaces, and incidental accumulations. Removed from their utilitarian purpose, these materials begin to function as autonomous visual systems, generating abstract compositions and rhythms through chance, repetition, and layering.

I approach the construction site not simply as a space of production, but as a continuously shifting visual environment shaped by processes of building, erosion, repair, and interruption. The movements of workers, temporary material arrangements, and traces left through acts of installation and removal reveal tensions between control and contingency, order and instability. My work examines how incomplete and provisional states can produce their own formal logic.

The work begins through acts of observation and collection. Patterns and surfaces encountered on-site are translated through material reconstruction and painterly intervention. In this process, functional materials are displaced from their original context and repositioned between image and structure, destabilizing boundaries between architecture, labor, engineering, and abstraction.

Through these investigations, I seek to locate new possibilities for contemporary abstraction within environments most people are conditioned to overlook.
