Artist Statement
In this changing world, there are constant cycles of construction and redevelopment. In the city, there is a subtle beauty of new structures taking shape. The haphazard taping of glass windows and the rough sketches on dusty plywood at building construction sites show the disorder of unresolved actions.
The construction site brims with captivating elements. They connect with the emotions and resonances that color scenes of everyday life, transcending transitional moments. The geometric square tapes that construction workers use provide a way of visualizing the working process. I embrace these materials and visual experiences.
My work unfolds from this direction. My works celebrate the transformations and creative processes that I find at construction sites. The engagement of the visual richness of construction allows the viewer into the processes and materials of fabrication, and that makes evident the parallels between building crafts, works of visual art, architecture, and engineering.
